LIST OF DONERS TO LIBRARY SKNCOA, JOBNER (2000-2004)

Ø In 1999-2000 Mrs Vishnu Mohini shukla earlier staff of this library had donated 79Books costing Rs 10000 ( ten thousand)on the memory of her husband late shri Sushil Kumar Shukla (worked as Asstt Prof in English Deptt of this college) for library collection ,now it has been completely transferred to General Book Bank and made available for issue among students ,

Ø In 2000 Dr S L Dashora Ex Teacher of this college has donated some Music books to library
Ø In 2003 Mrs Nirupama Bhardwaj Ex Student of this college has donated one book to this library
Ø In 2001 DR T C Jain World Consultant ,FAO has also donated FAO publications and old books to this Library

Ø In 2003,shri Vinode Kumar Ailani from MANAGE, Hyderabad(ex student of this college has donated CD’s to this library ,is now being utilised for audio visual unit. The CD’s available for use are viz CYBER EXYTENSION MANAGE, ENTREPRENEURSHIPS,, AGRI-CLINICS, ETC .
Ø In 2004 Dr M C Gupta Asstt Prof Deptt of Fishery ,SKNCOA has donated CD of Fish Base2004 to Internet CDROM Library
Ø In 2004 ,Prof Deepak De Deptt of Extension Education IAS, BHU Varanasi has donated two books to this library.












INTRODUCTION
In this modern information era, library has become a hub centre for the management and dissemination of information. The role of librarian has now become more important to make out drastic change in the library state of the art. They play role as a planner, manager, and educator of information. It is the duty of the librarian to watch out all possible measures to make out faster retrieval mechanism of information with the advancement of I.T. It our responsibility to see whatever procured information has been properly delivered to the users to make its utility .No doubt all traditional libraries are moving towards the concept of Electronic to digital era with the advancement of Information Technology (IT). During this period all possible steps have been to make this library modern . This has been done under the planning, decision and execution of Asstt Librarian of this college. In coming future, we will have more a democratic concept of library i.e. digital library which will be accessible to everyone through internet irrespective of cost, time and space barriers.

HISTORY
The S K N College of Agriculture is located at 45 Km away from Jaipur in rural set up area. The library of this college was established in 1947 in Bal Mandir premise with inadequate infrastructure and a collection of 2000 books only .In 1962, it shifted to main administrative building with collection of 6000 books. In 29-9-1976, it again shifted to present existing library with a collection of 12000 books. During five years, all possible measures have been taken to modernize library with the additional provision of furniture’s, fixtures, Xerox machine, computers, books, e- journals, CD databases, CCTV systems etc. The present library is well equipped and organized on the modern lines with open shelf system having 40150 collections of books, Bound Journals, Government Publications, Book Bank facilities are available for both General and SC/ST students. Library subscribes 117 current journals foreign /Indian both and other newspapers and magazines etc The services are rendered to 186 faculty and supporting staff members, 349 students and users of other organizations .All sections of the library is well provided with CCTV camera systems. The present library is developing towards the concept of Electronic Library with the advancement of Information Technology. Internet /electronic databases service has been started to all faculty and researchers and students for faster retrieval of information access, further online journals ie (1162 e-journals) have been subscribed to meet out the additional requirements of current journals. The OPAC access facility is likely to be provided very soon through SOUL software for which data entry work has been started.

The present library is working in the following units
v CIRCULATION COUNTER This unit is involved with library membership, issue/return of books, and No Dues maintenance record of books/students/staff. During this period the counter has been modernized with additional provision of wooden counter along with locking door system in 2004. The counter is well equipped with CCTV monitor. And in near future, one computer will also be kept on network.


v MAIN OPEN SHELF READING LIBARAY: Here students are evolved with consultation /reading of book. Additional reading tables/chairs have been increased for students and staff. CCTV camera has been installed. Inverter of 2KV has been provided to solve power-shedding problem. Xerox counter is also attached here. The collections of this unit are Reserved books, .PhD theses, Reference books and Text books, all are arranged in classified order. The catalogue cards cabinets are kept here for searching library holdings of books.
v PERIODICAL UNIT This unit subscribes 117 Indian /foreign journals. Here stacking of all bound journals from 1981 to till date and theses (MSc) from 1991 to till date have been kept, and rest old bound journals and theses are kept in old stack room. This building was constructed in 1988, but due to lack of infrastructure facilities, this could not make into its utility, but after ADP grant in 1999-2000- all possible infrastructures have been added to make it its full utilization .The infrastructures being added in this unit are CCTV camera, chairs, tables, racks, steel case, display rack revolving display rack. File cabinets etc. Binding of long pending books ( book bank of general /SC/ST/open shelf)and journals (1992 onwards) have also been done during 2000-2004.
v OLD STACK /GOVT PUBLICATION UNIT Here all old theses, bound journals, Government publications, books are kept due to stacking problem and increase number of documents, which are comparatively less in use it covers theses, bound journals, reports and books. Theses are kept up to 1990 and bound journals up to 1980.
v NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINE UNIT: All leading newspapers are kept for reading among students and staff of this college One CCTV camera has also been kept here.

v REPROGRAPHIC UNIT. It established and started in 30-7-1997. Xeroxing work is done for students and staff of this college. Xerox counter is also provided to main hall for Xeroxing work of students
v INTRENET –CDROM UNIT :It started in 15-6-2004 .The Internet access facility /CDROM Databases /audiovisual services are provided here.


v TECHNICAL/OFFICE/DATA ENTRY UNIT:
This is main office /unit of the library .The Book selection procedure; order and accessioning work of all books are done here. Maintenance of filing and office correspondence are done here, Control room is also located in this unit. Data entry work will be done here, all labeling, stamping, jacketing, pasting of bookplate, date slip, book card, tags of each and every books are done here, library committees hall is also located, here all store items are kept along with records .All important books are also kept here. Entire purchasing of library items is done here. Entire library old office records of last 50 years have been properly entered, maintained in register and kept in red cloths bundles during this period. This is being done by Shri P Sharma LDC, earlier worked in this library.

v BOOK BANK UNIT: it started in 1975 with a collection of 480 text books for general category, later in 1980, this facilities has been extended to SC/ST students with collection of 200 books .All books pertaining to general /SC/ST category students are issued on rental /free basis round the two semesters
v DEPARMENT LIBARAY: The Departmental library was established in 1962 on the requirements of Heads of departments, a copy of text /research books had been transferred to research scientists /teachers /students for their consultation These were used for their research work even in late hours of working time through out the year looking to the research requirements of college campus.

ARRENEGEMENTS OF BOOKS /JOURNALS The DDC classification and cataloguing AACR-II schemes are being used for arrangement of these. every book has a tag written with call number

All, these cards arranged according alphabetical dictionary way letter by
Letter. After 1996 ,for theses MSc /PhD
MTH/DTH book code have been used along with class number to distinguish MSc /PhD theses



LIBARAY TEACHING
This course no 121 introduction to library science was started in 1999 with the aim to provide basic knowledge about library science to UG students of Agriculture College this has been taught very successfully among students ahs really gained. About how to search information how to locate information in the library and other libraries with the concept of cataloguing and classification systems, the syllabus was being prepared by K M Krishna, the outline of their syllabus was as follows

LIBARAY AREA
The present total area of the library is 14513 sq feet area, comprised
of different units i.e. main hall , periodical unit, Xerox unit, internet CDROM unit ,book bank ,newspaper unit old stack unit, technical section ,Librarian room ,binding unit
Additional area of 1000 sq feet has also been provided for Book Bank in 2003 due to increase number of books and stacking problems

LIBRARY RULES AND TIMINGS

Library facility is open to all students and staff of this college, card facilities are available for borrowing books are as per rules of this college Book Bank borrowing facilities is also available to all students of general /SC/ST category.
THE LIBRARY TIMING:
9 to 4.30 pm
Sunday closed
Saturday: 9 to 2.00pm
During summer
7.00 to 1.30pm in all working days






ACIEVEMENTS / ESTABLISHMENTS AND /IMPROVEMNTS:

OPENSHELF /READING ROOM FACILITY
This unit have been improved with the following additional facilities during this period
ü Separate Reserved Books unit in almirah
ü Separate almirah for Doctoral theses
ü Addition of reading tables and chairs
ü Renovation of Circulation Counter (close wooden counter with locking door ) along with CCCTV monitor
ü Four CCTV cameras in the hall
ü 2KV inverter to solve power shedding problem
ü Xerox counter facility.


LIBRARY PUBLICATION :IMAPACT OF NATP, LIBRARY INTERNET CDROM UNIT: STATUS REPORT (2004)



TECHNICAL /ACQUISITION /OFFICE
This section has been established in 2001 with the aim to work staff centrally. Entire acquisition, cataloguing, classification, data entry works are done here, control room for CCTV System .It is also used as committee hall for purchase of library books and journals .All official works of the library works are done here . The store items are also kept here along with maintenance of the record.




BOOK BANK FACILITY (2000-2004)
The major improvement took place during this period .The facilities have been improved with addition of fixtures, CCTV camera and making provision of grant for purchase of books and binding (of long pending books concerned with both General and SC/ST category) Additional area has been increased to solve stacking problem( from Room NO 9) .All cataloguing and classification of books have been done to make availability of books for circulation among students ,books emphasis have been given more to UG students







949 books concerned with Student Aid Fund /.KRMT have been completely transferred to general book bank to improve book issue facilities


Mrs Vishnu Mohini Shukla earlier staff of this library had donated 79 books costing Rs 10000 on the memory of her husband Late Shri Sushil Kumar Shukla (worked as Asstt Prof in English Deptt of this college) for library collection ,now it has been completely transferred to General Book Bank and made available for issue among students ,


Further 127 books have also been transferred from library open shelf accession register to General Book Bank concerned with UG text book only

Internet service has been started with the connectivity of ERNET site and with this little facilities, any library can develop its own hub centre of reference /referral library for delivery of wide range of information services,

(B ) J-Gate agriculture portal (e-journals):covering 1162 online journals accessed through internet .covering agricultural and biological sciences .(1-4-2004 to 1-5-2005)
(C) Audio visual unit: with academic educational CD’s for learning of agricultural trainings from lab to land and vice versa has been developed. viz CYBER EXTENSION , MANAGE ,ENTREPRENEURSHIPS, FISHERIES , AGRI-CLINICS, ETC .


OLD STACK ROOM

This unit has been established in 2004 with additional purchase of steel rack to keep old theses / bound journals and books this facilities has been added due to increase number of theses and bound journals and stacking/space problems. Here all government publications are also kept for consultation. Theses are kept up to 1990 and bound journals up to 1980.Rest are kept in current periodical unit

DIGITISATION OF BOOKS
This work has been done in 2004 under sanction and digitisation work under NATP grant 17500 books, theses, bound journals are labelled with barcode tags .This work will be used for verification of books and circulation through computer


LIBRARY SCIENCE TEACHING TO UG STUDENTS
This course has been carried out during 1998 -2003 with purpose to impart library education among UG students. During teaching they learned the techniques of library science with special reference to cataloguing, classification scheme , Internet access, techniques and technology of information storage and retrieval process etc .Besides the routine works of the library this course has been taught by Sh K M. Krishna Asstt Librarian of this college Presently it is not running.

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR STUDENTS&STAFF

Deposit books timely to avoid delay/loss /misuse of issued books by anyone
Always deposit your issued books before leaving this college to avoid legal actions
Always do your signature while issuing books
Do not allow /transfer your borrower card to any one
Do not forget to sign in the borrower card/register while issuing books form counter/book bank.
Please enter library along with Identity Card and show the library staff on demand
Do not mark /torn /write on any library documents it is Serious offence, action will be taken against defaulter
Always deposit issue books on the main counter
Be polite with library staffs
Do no bring any bag /polythin bags /other items which are not library material Do not bring your personal books /theses/etc
Please keep your personal items in the property counter only
Keep silence in the library, do not disturb others while reading
Always check from the counter about your books deposited
Always remove your shoes while entering internet CDROM unit
Always do your signature while using CDNET unit
Do not forget to write actual amount paid in the cash register along with your signature in Internet-CDROM unit.
Please keep your consulted books on the table only to avoid misplacement of books
Do not smoke or throw tobacco pouches in the library
The access to Library is only for students and staff of this college
Please switch off your mobile phone while consulting library.
